Since it is now finished, does anyone know if the initial release of
NASCAR 2 will, in fact be rendition ready? Maybe Adam from Papyrus can
tell us.
Thanks

According to Rendition's Jay Eisenlohr, Nascar2 will indeed be
Rendition Ready OOTB.

Just got (wednesday 04 Dec) nascar 2 at electronics botuqie (sp??).
n2.bat gets your regular nascar2
n2rend.bat gets you rendition version
renddma.bat gets you rendition and with a system that supports DMA
initial impression (pent-120, graphics blaster ma302 univbe 5.3, 32 Meg,
flight control system from thrustmaster)
is that it does seem to be good. I think that i need a bit more ponies
under my hood (cpu, not cubic inches). I had all turned on but grass /
asphault detail, and one other right below it.
Setup's - haven't tried any big changes, just easy, fast, and qualifing,
with minimal changes. We don't have stagger any more, so it looks like
air pressure and weight / wedge will be even more critical. haven't
figgured out how to change from a ford to a pontiac, but the book says
that what works for one make, may not work too well for another, setup
wise. The
detail of the cars seems better, and the driving is realistic - ie spin
off of two at bristol, and you'll hit the wall at the end of the
straightaway (should have seen what I did to earnhard at martinsville). I
didn't like darlington. The dashed line was the
separation between banking and flat, so I kept on driving off the banking,
and the width of the turns looked much more narrow. I sure would like to
have a solid line separating the bank from the flat at darlington. On
talladega, well, it sure seemed better, the tri-oval specially. When I
went into turn 1/3, the car seemed to be hard to get into the corner, but
stuck well once I was there. The spotter sure does make it seem real.
Also, I noticed that we seem to have blind spots with the mirrors, as if I
change lanes when my left-side mirror is clear, the car on the left rear
hooks me, and I'm not slowing down. Paying attention to the spotter seems
to be more important with them blind spots, and he's not too speedy with
the 'car low' sometimes, as I've been in a spin and heard 'there's a' and
it's a little late at that point. guess it's time to save for the p-200
and rendition card from someone when I can afford it. oh yes, it seems
that the center mirror really only shows what's right behind you, in the
lane that you are in.

To change the car make, just click on the logo in the Driver Info page. It
toggles between the 3 car makes.
I really like the new Darlington. The real track is very narrow and the
cars do take a high line on the track because of the banking. You just have
to be very careful not to get a tire below that white line unless you've
got the wheel straightened out. I usually cut across the line on the exit
of T2.
The mirrors are a significant improvement over NASCAR 1 mirrors. You can
actually tell how far you are from another car when you're running side by
side. Yes, there's a big blind spot back of the C post, so you have to
watch the traffic in the mirror and assume if they drop low and off the
mirror, that they may have a fender on you. Then wait for the spotter to
call it, if you don't hear from the spotter, you're probably OK.
