I really don't care what cars are in the game as long as it has  proper
support for steering wheels,  ala GP2,  unlike the original NFS which has the
worst steering program of any driving game worth mentioning.

Among the cars NFS II is supposed to have, are the McLaren F1 and a
Lamborghini. Some people don't like the cars that are supposed to come
with NFS II, though. One person said that it would be no fun driving away
from the cops at over 220 MPH in a McLaren. Another person would like
NFS II to just include muscle cars. Another wish was for having only
American-made cars in NFS II. One suggestions was that only ever day
sports cars such as Supras should be included. What do you guys think?
I think that among the cars included in NFS II, a RUF Porsche, a Lister
Storm, and a Ferrari F50 would have been nice.

I totally agree with the desire to run outrun cops in cars that people
actually buy.  I, for one, would love to see the new Corvette and the
Porsche Boxter included.

I think I read on the EA site that the F50 was one of the cars to be
included with NFS II.

How so? NFS works perfectly with my T2.

I would like to see several expansion disks with new tracks AND cars.
I would be willing to pay for that.

NFS is limited to a no adjustment ,  nonlinear steering mode,   which is ok
for joysticks but terrible for wheels.   For steering wheels you want to have
a linear mode with lots of adjustment options as GP2 has,  to tune it for
realistic feel.  If your happy with it I'm glad for you,  I'm not.

Personally, I think that appreciating the *** cars they intend to
concentrate on this time is only possible if you can directly compare them
to the rest of the "lesser" stuff that's out there.  I would prefer a
mixture of cars -- OK, here's my fantasy list in addition to the ***s --
for that reason.

Acura NSX
Audi A8 Quattro
BMW M5
BMW Z3 2.8
Buick Century (yes, your grandfather's)
Chevrolet Camaro (whatever the best model is these days)
Chevrolet Corvette
Dodge Viper (coupe maybe?)
Ford Mustang (the high performance model)
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Hyundai Accent
Mazda Miata
Mercedes AMG E-class
Mitsubishi 3000GT (whatever the top model is)
Porsche 959
Porsche 911 (or whatever the new model is going by)
Volvo 850 Turbo

I can think of a few others, but you get the idea...

I honestly believe that EA was likely under pressure NOT to put any real
cars in the mix this time.  NFS and NFS SE were realistic enough to be
embarrassing to some of the manufacturers (e.g., revealing the uselessness
of the sixth gear on the Viper).  The game actually helps to prove how
little an extra $100,000 can get you when you buy an *** car and what
wasted potential there is in some of the (particularly U.S. models)
designs.  What car companies want to draw attention to this???  Stick with
vehicles no one will actually ever drive and your problem is solved!

Anyone else think this may be what lies behind the shift from real cars to
fantasy models?

OK, that makes sense - Nascar has linear stearing and you're right it
does work really well.

But back to the original comment I don't think even NFS has as crappy
support as Screamer and Whiplash. Screamer doesn't work with the T2 at
all, and Whiplash misses 90% of your gear changes.

Does anyone know if they fixed it so that the Cop will ticket the
computer driver and not just you? Anyone who played the classic
Test Drive 2 -The Duel will remember how much fun it was to be racing
with the cop on your tail, and if you managed to pass up the computer
driver and the cop managed to pass him up too, tthe cop would pull
him over and ticket him.

I really wish they had implemented this into NFS, and I sure hope they
will in NFS2.

For me they cars I would love to have would be:

Ferrari F-40, F50

Porche 928, RUF 911 twin Turbo.

New Chevy Corvette.

But I must admit I am looking forward to driving the Mclaren F1 its supposed
to go 230 mph.

Really hoping they fixed the Cop AI.

Cheers.

By the way, I think someone mentioned that the Viper has a problem with
6th gear in NFS. I didn't notice it (or pay attention to it) in the old
NFS, but I looked at NFS SE and saw what they were talking about? Why does
a Dodge Viper have a 6th gear? It just used to go a few MPH faster than
what can be achieved in 5th.

I hope that they fix the cop, too. It's no fun seing your opponent drive
by a cop doing 150 mph and the cop does nothing, but if you are going just
a few MPH
above the speed limit the cop comes after you.

NFS SE does come with a utility that lets you configure several things,
such as buttons (finally I can use the pedals normally again), but I still
would prefer to
be able to tune the controls as much as I can in Gp2.

I totally agree, and for students like me its also nice to dream about the
"lesser" cars as they are out of my reach.

I think EA has definitely made a bad move by dropping the less *** cars
as well as their affiliation with Road and Track.  I though that that
combination was what gave the game such a great driving feel.  Look at the
success of the EA/Janes Combat combination.  Longbow has been heralded as
one of the best most accurate flight sims ever made.  NFSII looks like it
will be fun game but have little of the depth that made NFS so great.

I guess I'm waiting for NFS SE II.  ie.  NFS with more cars and more
tracks.  I don't want to drive a McLaren F1 off road!(or I'd get Monster
Truck Madness)

Instead of argueing about what cars they should include.  Why not the
abbility to modify the cars or even add your own like the racing simulaters.
God knows this would make for a huge following if cars and tracks were being
traded on the Internet!  It worked for Duke Nukem.
