Burnout problem??

by Jaso » Mon, 05 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

After first installing the game and running it immediately after installing,
everything works just great and I really enjoy it.

However, after rebooting and every subsequent time after that, whenever I
start the game, the main menu's sounds are very choppy and broken and the
mouse movements are very erratic.
Then, when I enter the garage, the screen is not fullsized, and the sounds
and mouse movements are still very choppy. All of these problems occur,
though, only after rebooting after the initial install.
Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how did you remedy it? I
emailed Bethesda support and they told me it may have something to do with
my Pure3d vid card, but that's all they could come up with. I've tried it
several times installing the 1.23 patch right after installing, right after
rebooting, and neither seem to have any affect on this particular problem.
Please help!!!

Here's my specs:
233mmx
64 sd ram
pure3d 1
velocity 128
awe64 value isa

Thank you greatly if you can help me!

It does sound like Bethesda may be right onthis issue. You say your screen
downsizes itself? Burnout will automatically do that when the framerates
drop low. If your Vid card is causing a problem there, then it will slow
down the entire game, sound too. The only thing i can think of as well is a
possible upgrade of some parts.
Also, make sure you have all the programs close inthe background.
CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what you have running. One of those may be trying to
accomplish something while you are in the game.
Im still guessing really though.
