F1 2002 Mods - good for single player?

Sorry to intrude with a dumb question. Do the various mods, such as
GTR2000 have decent AI opponents, or are these mods more geared towards
online racing? I'm far too inept to race online.

Thanks.

The AI in GTR 2002 is pretty good - better than most other sims.

F1 2002 has horrible online play.  GTR is a very excellent offline mod
however (by far the best - don't forget to grab F360 challenge and
Mini Challenge while you're at it).

GTR-2002 as a whole is worth a full purchase ($40) price of F12002.
The fact that you can get F12002 AND GTR 2002 now for a song should be
a crime. Any other of the fully competent mods are a bonus, and trust
me, there's plenty. Before F1C was released, I had no fewer than 6
mods going at once, plus F12002.

Does the F360 Challenge (GTR 1.3) require the GTR 2002 1.2 patch?

berlin.de:

I'm not 100% sure on that but I would recomend using the 1.2 patch
first....just to be safe.   The process for getting the patches and mods to
work is a very '1 step at a time' process.  If you do NOT take shortcuts,
then it almost always installs and runs properly.   If you skip a
step...that invites trouble.

Just wanted to second that about GTR. As someone who also doesn't feel
ready to take my modest skills online and does a whole lot of racing
against the AI, I'd have to say GTR is the best I've found for that.
You can tweak the AI drivers' ability and aggressiveness to a level
that makes for good racing whatever level you're on. Many add-on cars
and tracks are available. I also highly recommend the F360 and Mini
Cooper add-ons. The Mini Challenge is maybe my biggest sim racing
favorite right now. Happy racing.
