ACTLABS Force RS: Useless ?

I am not one to trash a product, especially on a NG where chances are
you'll get slammed right back by its fans, but I must say I am super
dissapointed with this wheel. I read all the reviews and opinions on
the group and it seemed like wheel to have... well, $150 later, the
damn thing is useless on most of the games I want to use it with...
Granted, it works really well with Rally masters, so I know it's not
broken, but other than that.. ???

TM with broken *** bands. I am better off with FF turned off so I
can at least feel the default spring... yeah, I feel the kerbs, but I'd
rather feel the road and some resistance to turning the wheel. My old
saitek was much better at this !

Also the stupid wheel does not seem to know where it's at sometimes. If
you leave it turned when exiting a race it does not recenter itself
like my saitek used to. So you start the next race with the wheel
completely off center!! it's done that in SCGT and Rally masters
several times...

This can't be... There's FF or there isn't... why would it work so well
in RM and not at all in SCGT (the saitek was great in both). I mean,

hands, but it's useless for SCGT. Anyone with success there ? I
couldn't find newer drivers, so I am really dissapointed, not sure what
to do with the thing....

Slam if you want, I'd prefer a helpful hint though...

Greg.

ACTLABS Force RS: Useless ?

I also have the ActLabs Force RS.  I noticed that in SCGT I was occasionally
loosing the center position on the wheel (especially after having an
off-track excursion) , I'd have to keep the wheel turned to go straight.
But I read a post on this NG that suggested always turning the wheel full
left and right before entering the game (and depressing both pedals
individually), in essence setting the limits.  Doing this has solved that
problem for me.

In case you haven't already, go to the control panel, select controllers,
select the ActLabs wheel, select properties, and go the the Gain Settings
tab.  Changing those settings might let you tailor the FF to your liking.

BTW, I've found this wheel wheel to also work well with Viper Racing, Mobil
1Rally, MGPR2, Nascar 2000 (demo), NFS:PU (demo).  N3 FF effects are less
than impressive, IMO.

Good luck.

Thanks for that one, I'll try. It seems a bit silly though, if my
saitek wheel was doing that by itself, then it's software and it could
be patched...

liking.

All is maxed out. I have also tried a combo of lesser feedback (just in
case one force cancels the other), to no avail. No road grip at all,
it's really bad.... Now I regret I bought the wheel straight from ACT
LABs, a return is not very practical... And the damn thing is fantastic
with Rally maters !!! Very weird !

I'm not a techie myself but I would suggest contacting Zenon at Tech

you're in North America call him at (800) 980-9997, press "2" for tech
support.  Otherwise, call him at +1 (604) 278-3650, pres "2"...

I'm sure he'll be able to help you out!
