Force Feedback wheels and W2K

Has anyone got one working yet with Windows 2000?  My Ultimate Per4mer
definitely doesn't work, SC&T have stopped supporting PCs and I need a new
wheel.
Which is the best these days, Actlabs, Saitek?

I have the Logitech Wingman Formula Force (USB) and I just upgraded to
W2K -- and have had some success.   I haven't been able to get force
feedback to work for Nascar 3, but it does work in MS Flight Sim 2000, go
figure.  I'm still trying though...

Since W2k is essentially NT 5.0, I would say you are lucky to get
FS2000 going.

Well, I'd like to think of it as more "skill" than "luck", but...

Seriously, other than some drive issues, W2K is actually performing better
than W98 on many of the apps I use (games included).  I installed in a dual
boot configuration in case I still needed W98, but I don't think I'm going
back.

Just my $.02

Cool, what games have you tried it with so far?

The only games I've not got working are Falcon4 (which runs but crashes when
trying to go back to main menu) and GPL in 3Dfx mode (works fine in
software.)
There is a whole list at http://ntgamepalace.3dfiles.com/0.htm although it
was set up for NT it now includes W2K.
If I can sort out the GPL thing I won't be going back to W98.

So far I've got working:
Nascar 3 (w/o force feedback),
GPL w/opengl patch (w/o ff),
flight sim 2000 + a ton of addons (w/ff),
flight unlimited III (w/ff),
Jane's F15,
a ton of my wife's card games (Hoyle classic)
I think Madden NFL 99 -- but I don't remember if I tried it -- I will in
just a minute!

As far as non-game apps, Everything has worked so far except I'm having
trouble sharing a printer on my LAN with other non-W2K computers (I think
due to the printer - HP LaserJet 3100 is known for not being network
friendly).

What is the OpenGL patch you mention?  Patch for what W2K or GPL?

You can get it from the papyrus web site  -- opengl.zip.  It's only about
70KB and the readme states that it is a beta and unsupported, but it works
fine.  It is not specifically for W2K, but it seems to work fine.

OK, I got it.  It gets further than before, but I get a small screen for
menus, and the mouse pointer disappears and I can't select any options. So,
I'm stuck again!
Any suggestions?

Iain,

Are you also using the latest patch for GPL?  It is also at the papyrus web
site (gpl12_us.exe is the one I used).

If you are using that version with the opengl patch, then it must be
hardware or driver issues??   All I can offer is my setup:
PII400, 128MB, Viper770 ultra with Nvidia reference driver 3.78.

Yep, I'm using 1.2. Still can't get GPL to work. Can't see mouse pointer and
therefore unable to make any selections!
