NFS SE: Has anybody actually won the tournament?

This seems impossible to me. Even on Rusty Springs, there is no way in
hell you can beat the guy in the Supra. I take the last turn
flawlessly on every lap (at about 120 mph), and the bastard always
finishes a split second ahead of me. This really looks like cheating
on the computer's part.

Um, I have won the tournament on my very first try.  Yes, it was damn hard
and yes, I did not win every race (finished 5th once).

The main concern for the human driver is car selection.  I suggest,
depending on the track, that you choose a handling car, rather than one
with a killer top speed.  Most of the time your not at top speed anyway.

Oh, and block like hell.

Well, I won the tourney on the first try, won every race with the exception
of Vertigo ridge (never have been able to get that track down).  Personally
I think it is much easier in NFSSE, because unlike the original, you do not
have to win every race in the tournament in order to win the tournament.  As
for computer cheating, it does, to make the race close.  It is not much fun
when you are 2 miles ahead of the next guy, on a 3 mile course.

G'day Paul,

I've had a quick crack at Class A, B & C tournaments so far, and I've
managed to win at Rusty Springs consistantly. The Supra is the pick for
this track, and it is definitely winnable.

Haven't done too well elsewhere so far though. 8^(( Trying to corner on
the other tracks at the same speed as the AI cars (Ferrari & Diablo) so
far seems impossible!!!

Nah, piece of cake. All you have to do is take the last turn better than the computer. Other than that he always stays close to you. Even if you pull off a 4:55 he'll be right on your tail coming into the last turn. Just make sure you're in the lead going into the last turn and do it right. If you are smooth over the rest of the track, by eliminating skids(easy in the Supra), and taking the correct lines, you can catch the computer up pretty well too.

Bret. (4:55 on Rusty, 9:21 on Vertigo, 10:05 on Alpine)

The computer drivers always match your average speeds. To combat this, hold back on speed for most of the race
to enable you to drive flawlessly. Coming into the last lap, step on the gas and hopefully you should finish
the race ahead before you crash out.

Nah, what fun is that? Run it flat out, it's possible to win every
race. Of course, I've yet to win a tournament, but I have won on
each individual track.

Jason
