What's the difference between these two? I've been playing NFS for some
time and may well get the SE version. NFS2 looks a bit ***to me, well
at least on the playstation.

As far as I know, the SE adds in network capability, two more tracks,
a better engine code (faster framerates, but not THAT much), and
native Win95 .exe... There may be more, but I don't know.. Personally,
I'm not buying anything else from EA until they shape up, and I'm
REALLY looking forward to Test Drive 4 from Accolade..

It's very good but if we can play it in-car with 3Dfx, it's
EXCELLENT!!!

two new tracks, audio while driving (although i always turn it off -- too
annoying), night driving (not true night driving -- lame), win95 executable
available (never got it to work though)

NFS2 is crap, stick with NFS and download additional tracks etc.

yes, with 3dfx support, the game is 200% better. but are u going to spend
another Cdn$ 70 on just the upgrade?? They don't even change the video
footage for the old cars!! If the game cost $30, I'd definitely buy it. But
since I've got NFS2 already, I will not suggest ppl to spend another 70 on
a so-called Special Edition!! Most of the other companies give a 3dfx patch
FOR FREE!

Two new tracks?  The only new one I've seen is the "Last Resort".  The
hidden track (type Hollywood at the main menu) was already in NFS2
(the non-SE version).

Is there a 2nd hidden track?  If so, how do we get it?

I think he was talking about NFS and NFSSE, not NFS2...

NFS SE runs in Win95 and DOS. There is not much difference between NFS
and NFS SE (same standard tracks, same cars). For both versions many
additional tracks exist.

NFS2: you tell it. Win95 only (ok, also playstation).
better graphics, less fun, less simulation.

NFS2 SE:  NFS2 + 3dfx hardware support
I heard bad news that incar view is not supported (at least in demo)

The bad news is true -- no in-car view for 3DFX.  It says this right
on the back of the box!  That kept me from buying the game.  Rats, and
the demo was such eye-candy.  I wanted to like it.

>NFS2 SE:  NFS2 + 3dfx hardware support

Since NFS2SE is a true native Windows95 program, wouldn't it use D3D
so that any 3D accelerated card would improve frame rates?

Is it true that they wrote it so that it improves the frame rates only
if you have a 3dfx board?

Nope, EA is writing all their game to Glide, and thank goodness - it
is vastly superior to D3D, both for the developer and the user. You're
out of luck if you don't have a 3dfx though.
