DX7 Nascar 3 won't boot

by Louis Uh » Mon, 04 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi, has anyone installed DX7 and had problems with N3 not loading? I fire
up N3 and it freezes up on me. I can't uninstall DX7 either. Can anyone
give me some suggestions? Thanks

No problems with DX7 and N3.  Try updating all your video drivers.

While were on the subject does anyone think DX7 will fix my sound problem.  As
of now i get really crappy sound in N3, GPL and every other game i run under
windows.  DOS games (like GP2) the sound works fine.  I have a Crystal CS461x
wave sound for my sound equipment (yes i know its almost 2 years old).  I think
when i installed DX6 with SCGT it messed something up and i havent been able to
as of yet fix it.  Thought about maybe going back to DX5 but im not sure if
that would work either.  Any help would be appreciated.

If updated drivers for video card doesn't work, try
disabling sound card with device manager.  I had
same problem and ended up buying a new sound card

Perhaps re-installing N3 will do the trick

Ditch that pile of junk and get something decent like a SB Live! I have
a $35 SBPCI64 and it rocks in all games.

I'm using an old Soundblaster 16 and DX7 seems to have cleared up the fuzzy,
staticy noise I was getting in N3.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up reformatting my HD and starting all
over again. Now it works just fine. Now if I could only get my gear
ratios right :).
