Sound card won't let computer boot Windows

by SLCsurf » Mon, 26 Mar 2001 09:14:12

Hi,

I took out my sound card to install a 1393 Firewire card (which didn't work so
I have returned it for a replacement).  I took out all PCI cards, deleated them
from the device mananager.  Now with just the sound card (tried it in all 5 PCI
slots) the computer gets to the Windows splash and freezes.  Has my sound card
gone bad or is it something else?
I am running Windows 98SE, Abit BE6-II, Voodoo 3000 AGP.

Thanks,
Steve

Two things:1) make sure your system knows that it has a PNP OS.  Check that in
the CMOS setup screen.  2) You may have to boot in safe mode, run REGEDIT, and
search for instances of the V3 card.  Then you can start over.
