F1RS Controller Set-up

Hi all,

A friend has F1RS (I haven't played my copy for a long, long time).
Everything is working fine except the steering.  He recently changed
controllers and the steering is totally vague at the centre and really only
kicks in when you crank the wheel to the extreme.   I thought I knew right
away what the problem was: the steering limit button for
keyboarders...except the button seems to have no effect.  Whether it is on
or off, you get the reactions in the wheel as though it is on.  I remember
tons of controller set-up issues with this title.  Is there a config file
that you have to delete to reset the game controller set-up or how would one
get the steering back to "normal"?  By the way, the FFB is working as is the
split axis pedal set-up, which his previous wheel did not have, so some
things got reset.

Thanks,

Marc.

I have precisly this problem with F1RS and my Gravis Stinger, Microsoft
Sidewinder Precision Pro (USB) and Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel. This
is why I no longer play F1RS.

Is there is a solution to this problem, I'd like to hear it, because I'm
all out of ideas.

I had the same problem with my MSFF wheel.  The fix is to open one of the
"ini" or "ifr" files in the game's directory on your hard drive, and you
should see a line or section in the file that refers to "wheel" with a value
of 0 (zero).  Change this value on the "wheel" line from 0 to 1 and it will
get rid of the huge dead zone.  Sorry I don't have more thorough, I have not
had this game installed on my system for a long time.  This problem did not
happen on any other wheels i've owned, just the MSFF.
