Unless Logitech provides a driver to "emulate" the device to appear on
the I/O port 201 as a "joystick", DOS games like GP2 simply can't see
the device on the serial port.

GP2 works fine for me running it in Win98. I dont think it will work at
all in pure DOS since the serial port won't be recognised as a game port.
In Windows we use a virtual joystick port so that DOS games won't know that
the WFF is actually on a faster port that uses less CPU bandwidth. I am not
aware of any DOS games that will look for a controller on the serial port. I
am certain that none of them will work with USB.
The answer is run your DOS games from inside of Windows, then there won't be
any problems.
