F1GP2 - SVGA only!

F1GP2 - SVGA only!

This sounds pretty unlikely to me. Demos of this game which have been
shown at various computer shows have been VGA only for the driving
bits. Given that Crammond already has the game running in VGA I
can't see him releasing the final product with SVGA in-game
graphics only. If his SVGA engine is so marvellous, he must know
something Papyrus don't.

The magazine may have got confused, because the game will require
SVGA graphics, because all of the menus are SVGA only.

<snip>
:  In a boxed out piece of text it says that Geoff Crammond has got his texture
: engine working at such a pace that the game will be released as SVGA only!
<snip>

Ouch, my DX2 hurts;-(  Oh well, at least now I know what two games of
ICR2, F1GP2 and Harpoon II DLX I will buy...  I haven't seen a simulation
that works fine in DX2 and SVGA fast enough, and racing sims (IMHO)
need the fastest frame rate.

Not what I heard.  A Microprose sales rep told a computer shop owning
friend of mine that they'd all be very surprised to see it released by
Christmas.  I reckon February 1996 would be a more appropriate date.

Anyone who remembers the release schedule for the original F1GP on the
Amiga will already have a strange feeling of deja vu ...

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh! I cant wait. Those suckers why are they torturing us.
They should have learned from the past! When was the last time they got their game out when
promised.

Oh well, I hope they are improving the game. Afterall they are not Gametek which dumped Elite
III out way too soon.

Hi there!

Good News. F1GP2 is available in the shops (at least here in Denmark)
today. I just saw it in the windows this morning. Unfortunately it was
closed, so I know where I'm going after class.

regards,

PC-Zone carried a few words about F1GP2 this month. It quotes Geoff Crammond
as saying that he has optimised the code to the extent that it will run at
70fps in VGA and 30fps in SVGA. I don't think it mentioned the hardware
required
for this level of performance. I was reading this in newsagents so I may be
a bit inaccurate...

As soony as you've gone buy, could you post if it was really there?
It's quite hard to believe for me?
And if it is there (and it's the english version) could you please
post the address of the shop to the newsgroup (or E-mail it to me) so
I can contact them if I can order it using my Creditcard. (from the
Netherlands)

Thanks,
Wilfred

I'd like to believe that, I really would, but they must be empty boxes.
Software companies do that all the time, it's just promotional material.
