ICR & Joysticks

I enjoy the opportunity to finally get in a "virtual" Indy car, but I
seem to have a Flightstick that is overly "twitchy."  I even have
Indy 500.  While I wouldn't call that exactly perfectly responsive, I
can get around the track with pretty fast lap times.  But, in ICR
things get real bad.  I might consider investing in yoke or wheel if
it would REALLY help.  In the meantime I will be upgrading from a
386DX-40 to a 486DX2-50 (8 megs).  Hope something cures this problem.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Myron

Wait for the upgrade to DX2 50mhz before deciding you stick is bad. Even
though ICR *can* run on a 386, I think a 486 is really required. This
could very well be why so many have control problems in ICR.

I'm using a Flightstick Pro and have no problems with it. I even
have it running through the port on my... NO DON'T SAY IT!... Sound
Blaster 16.  It works fine in ICR and every other game I've tried.

386/25 and ICR works fine with FlightStick if little or no detail is used.

Maybe part of these controlling problems come from too optimistic ICR
setups.  I can drive and win against 11 drivers on my computer.  But if I
add for example horizon and trackside buildings it is almost certain
that I crash during pace lap (starting from last grid).

Even without details 12 cars require delicate handling during heavy visible
traffic, but most parts of the races are quite playable.  I'll save
phrase "very playable" for F1GP.

Perhaps my opinion will change when I'll upgrade my computer and see
what the difference is on faster machine, but I'll stick with trusty
386 for an year or so;-(

BTW: I'd like to see player log in future racing sims.  How many test
miles, wins, pole positions, crashes, track records, etc.
