F1RS Help

by Mike Burges » Mon, 04 Jan 1999 04:00:00

I'm having a problem with stability of the game, and despite trying
everything in the FAQ's and advice from UBI's help desk I'm still having

video card (AGP),  and an Ensoniq PCI sound card. All drivers are
updated to the latest rev's so I'm running out of stuff to try. Would
sure appreciate any ideas/experiences that might help.
The game crashes intermittently, usually before I've completed a lap or
two, and usually if there has ben contact with another car. Any ideas ?
Thanks..
Mike

Or get a 3dfx card. Either Voodoo1 or Voodoo2.

Mike,

Try changing the following in your snd_cpa.ini file located in
c:/ubisoft/f1rs/cpa/dll directory:

[DLL_Sxd]
Unconditionnal=None
Default=WAVPW

I assume your file currently indicates WAVX2.

I hope that works for you.

Thanks Carlo. I'm running Directx6, so I'll try going back to 5 but it
didn't work either. Can you tell me where I can get the 1.07 patch? I'm
on the 1.09 version. Thanks   ..Mike

Wrong duh. He needs a 3dfx card. The problem is not DirectX 5 or 6
or patch 1.09. I ran patch 1.09 on both my old 200mmx/Voodoo1 and
my new P2-450/Voodoo2 and the game is fine. Errr as long as you have
a Voodoo1 or Voodoo2 card. Also with the AudioPCI he will get awesome
3D sound if he gets the latest drivers and has the 1370 Ensoniq chipset.

Of course it didn't work. Patch 1.07 shouldn't work either. In fact I seem
to remember that it had a worse framerate. As I said in my previous
message you problem will be fixed with a 3dfx card.

Also I believe the readme for the game at one point even said you
need 3dfx or return the game. Or something like that :-)

Actually Greg, the box and the website say it will run on many non-3dfx
cards, including the one I bought just to run this game.....

I know what the box and website says. However if you were to try
a 3dfx card you would see that I am right :-)
