F1RS help

by Andrew Stor » Wed, 13 May 1998 04:00:00

Having followed instructions from various posts here, F1RS is now
playable and mostly enjoyable. But I have a few gripes that stop this
from being a perfect game. Can anybody help with the following:

1. Pauses during the game - the game can pause for a fraction of a
second (usually half way through a corner) which causes loss of
control.  Turning off Replays helps, but I want to keep replays on.

2. I like to play on Manual gearbox with all failures etc. ON.  But
everytime I load the game or just change track the settings are reset.
How can I save my preferences (Save configuraion does not seem to do
the trick).

3. With the AntiSpin turned off, it is very difficult to start a race
without losing 6 places - any tips?

My PC has an Intel P200MMX 48 Meg memory & Orchid Righteous 3D.  I
have a full installation of F1RS

Thanks
Andrew

game.

I get these only on the first lap after loading the game or if I have replays
on.  One other thing you may try is changing the line in your snd_cpa.ini file
(in f1rs/cpa/dll) lines to read:
sxd_dist_satur=1 (I actually us 2)
sxd_dist_fad=15
This also cuts a lot of the racket out.  But makes the cars too quiet for my
tastes when viewing from external vantage.

If you find out PLEASE let us all know!  VERY annoying.

Practice.  I too had probs with this.  Now I generally lose one place, keep my
place about 25-40% of the time, and even once in a blue moon advance a place.

Be sure your screensaver and any other backround applications are shut off

If you stay in the same Driving Mode, your settings should not change. If you
switch from Easy to Realistic, or between the 3 settings in Realistic, you must
reset your preferences. Yes it bites....

What I REALLY despise is having to reload my car setups everytime I start the
sim, what a waste of time!

No program is perfect, and F1RS has it's faults, but it's still my favorite, at
least until July!

Don - waiting patiently for GPL...
