my tm nascar pro wheel and pedals were working fine in nascar2 until i recently
started a new race. as i headed down pitrow, the car suddenly turned to the
left without me steering it, the gas revved real high and the car spun in
circles uncontrollably. also went backwards. i was unable to recalibrate as
when i did , it told me i had the same settings on more than 1 axis even though
i used different ones. has anyone ever had this problem?  could it be a bad
steering pot or is my wheel shot?   hope someone can help   don

you might be as well deleting all mentions to Thrustmaster on your pc and
then reinstalling them to see if it makes any difference, ive got a tm
formula one (british version of N pro) i cant get it to calibrate in a
straight line.

First try deleting the following files in your NASCAR2 folder and try
recalibrating again.  It's possible that these files somehow got
corrupted.
        calib.val
        controls.cfg

If this doesn't work, it does sound like one of the pots in your unit
maybe dirty.  You can use Thrustmaster's TMScope program to check for
which pot may be causing the problem.  The readings will be erratic and
possible jump to low numbers on the high side or high numbers on the low
side.

To clean the pots on Thrustmaster products, get some Tuner/Switch
Cleaner and Lubricant from an electronics supply store. Open up the
housing on the unit and spray the insides of the pot (short for
potentiometer). I usually direct the spray (via the tube extenstion for
the spray nozzle) into the openings of the pot where the solder lugs
are. Then move the wheel or pedal through its full range 4-6 times to
work the cleaner over all the contacts. If the unit was acting up quite
a bit, you may want to give it a second "cleaning" before sealing up the
unit and heading back out to the track.

There are pots for each pedal and for each lever on the back of the GP1
wheel. The latter can usually be cleaned by finding a "squarish" hole on
the pot and directing the spray through the hole. You should be able to
clean the pots for the levers without disassembling anything on your
GP1, however to get to the steering wheel pot you will need to remove
the housing cover of the wheel.

[For the non-electronics or non-mechanical racers out there, the pot is
the "silver" cylinder that the is directly behind the wheel inside the
housing. It should have some wires connected to it and the wheel is
connected its plastic shaft. There should be a "shaft" coming out of one
end of the cylinder.]

I had this trouble once. Turned out I'd knocked out the lead that
connects the steering unit to the PC :-)
