Have you turned steering help off in GP2? Is this at speed or even when
traveling slowly? If it is the former you may want to try adjusting the
steering at speed sensitivity in GP2.
There could be a couple of causes from this to happen. The first could
be a dirty or faulty steering pot. Get a copy of Thrustmaster's TMScope
(ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/tmscope.exe) and see if
the reading seem to "spike" at about the same position of the wheel. If
this is the case I would get some Tuner/Switch cleaner from an
electronics supply store. Use this on the potentiometer inside the
steering wheel housing. Then test your wheel again with TMScope. If
things look better, your problems should be over for a few months,
before it's time to clean the pot again.
If the above doesn't fix the problem or TMScope shows the readings to
"spike" all over the place (no matter where the wheel is turned), you
may want to look at getting a dedicated speed adjustable gamecard.
