HELP! Cannot install TM Nascar Pro Racing Wheel

by Jerr » Mon, 11 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Just purchased TM Nascar Pro Racing Wheel and I can't install the software for
the wheel. My Soundblaster Live shows the game port being installed under
Creative Misc devices under Device manager instead of unde game ports.
The TM install software is telling me that I do not have a game port but I do.
It's just listed in a different location in device manager.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

Your gameport should be under game ports obviously.  (mine is, same stuff) I
would think about uninstalling/reinstalling the sblive. Go for a complete
uninstall including a reboot in safe mode and deleting unnecessary entries in
the device manager that don't show when booted normally.

I had a similar problem. It was with the TM software. I kept
re-installing
until it worked.

Your gameport will be listed under "sound, video gamecontroller" in the
system-device manager.

And of course you have to select your control in the Thrustmaster
control panel or with the "game controllers" in the W98 control
panel. Also try chosing the TM F1 wheel. Sometimes that would work.

HELP! Cannot install TM Nascar Pro Racing Wheel

Try first: plug in your controller and go to the control panel and select add /
remove hardware. Windows should find it. If not, in the systems Device Manager
remove everything that says game port and then reboot with your controller plugged

in and windows should open the port and also load the port driver as you reboot.
At times I've had my machine dump the port driver and this works for me. Some new
systems come loaded with the gameport in two locations in Device Manager.  Windows

seems to get confused by this. Let me know! DBH
