TM Nascar PRO Pedals

I have just bought a Nascar PRO Wheel (Formula 1 Racing Wheel in
Europe),
It is excellent apart from the pedals, which because they are mounted at
90 degrees to the floor mean I have to push them across ways to work
them, this if fine except that when I push the pedal down to the bottom
it then lifts up the entire pedal asssembly at the front as the force of
me pushing causes it to pivot on the back of the base.

This makes the pedals almost unusuable for me. Does anyone else have
this problem, or better still a solution, aside from sticking 50kg of
lead to the bottom?

Thanks

Mark,

Try putting a computer shopper magazine under it to raise it about 3
inches or so.  Seems to help a bit.  If you dont know what the computer
shopper is...  try stacking a JC Penny christmas catalog or something
similar underneath it.  Use double sided tape or velcro to mount it.

Not perfect... but seems to help. I dont have the wheel.. but I know
someone who does and Ive driven on his pc... not bad =)

I just purchased the Nascar wheels and have the same complaint.  I am
thinking of drilling a hole through the front and srewing it to the wood
floor.  On the second thought it may be wiser to mount it on a larger piece
of ply wood. That should stabilize it. HTH

I noticed that too.  Since you only drive with one foot, use your other
foot to hold it down.  It's pretty comfortable and Im used to it.  The
pedals arent 90 degrees, If you have a high enough chair, it isnt that
bad.

I hope this would be so easy, but I usually drive with both feet... You
know,
karting style: left foot on the brake, right foot *** the gas :).

I'd really appreciate a handy tip for keeping the pedals in place, other
than
outright nailing them down...

I don't know how you'all are set up as far as desks go, but for any of the
pedal combos I have tried, the end result is I would put something between
the pedal and the wall, to keep it from sliding and it works great.  I too
am a left foot braker, and I don't think you should have to hold it down
while you use it.  I used a phone book in one case, in another, I used a
wooden shelf off of the desk I had, and the desk I use now has a built in
footrest that I prop it against.

I like the pedal base on the Nascar Pro Wheel.  If you are having
problems with the base sliding... try what I do.  I bought some velcro
strips and placed it on my static mat.  I used about a 1 1/2 inch strip
on front, back, and both sides.  If you have the *** stoppers
installed.... buy some tack board and cut it out and use double sided
tape to attach it (or glue if you prefer).. then attach the velcro to
that.  I have it so the velcro and *** stopper are all the same
height.  Works great =)

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

I liked the idea of the wedge-shaped box that David suggested, but the lazy
bastard I am,
I'll propably won't actually build one... ;)

Instead, I just stuck a book (about 2 inches thick) under the side facing
me, so that the whole unit
is tilted away from me, like it would be in David's box. The top of the
unit is about horizontal now.
And guess what: problem solved! Not only are the pedals more comfortable
(for me at least), but
the unit stopped tilting and it stays in place really well. Ah, I wish
everything would be this easy!

Thanks again,

Jussi

Try lifting the front side of the pedal unit (just put a
thick book or something under it) so that the unit
tilts away from you. Helped for me: no strain in the
ankles anymore, and the unit stays in place much
better. Now I'm able to race for hours. What joy!  :)
