Just bought a TMNP and like it very well but the pedals are not ergonomic to
say the least, I've read many posts about this in the past but never paid
much attention to them so If I may I would like some advice about propping,
taping or whatever else some of you have done to make your pedals more
comfortable to use. Thanks in advance!

I think the single most ergonomic change for me was to raise the front of
the base about 2 1/2" - 3".   I accomplished that by making a wooden base,
the weight of which also stops the pedal base from tipping backwards when
pressed hard.  To prevent it from sliding around, some people bolted the
base to the floor, I use another piece of wood between the base and the back
wall.

Then, of course, comes the modifications to the spring mechanism and the
addition of a clutch pedal<G>  HTH

I bolted mine to a 2 foot by 3 foot piece of wood :)

The pedal positions stink.  If the brake _has_ to be that far to the
right, then they should have gone ahead and put the clutch in as well.

Everyone I know of has complained to them about this stupid design, but
they don't seem to want to listen...

The Microsoft Sidewinder Force-Feedback wheel has the _best_ pedals I've
ever used.  Unfortunatley, it won't work with N2, and I have to take it
back :(

Take a look at www.thrustmaster.com and page through the new wheels.  They DID
listen.  btw, click on the buy now button to go to the online store and see
more updated photos, particularly of the Sprint wheel's pedals.  Those pedals
and the Super Sport's look much improved.  The Sprint's not dual axis; don't
know about the other.  I emailed TM asking, but got no reply.

Had the same problem as you until I propped the pedals up on an old
Computer Shopper.  If the base is 1 to 1-1/2 inches further off the
floor, I have found the pedals to be quite ergonomic.  Only problem now
is building up new muscles for GPL.  Since it's not a pedal off/on sim,
I find that at some tracks, I am modulating the throttle so much that I
never seem to rest my right foot/ankle anymore. <G>

The Sprint pedals are wired on the same axis like the T2 of old and splitting
them requires some creative wiring.  The paddles behind the wheel are split to
two axes and are read that way in DOS games but are combined in windows games
(when not using the pedals) by the driver.  The driver automatically detects
if the pedals are connected and when they are the paddles are sent through as
buttons 5 & 6.

On the Super Sport the pedals are wired on separate axes and will work that
way in DOS games.  In the Properties Panel software that ships with the wheel
you can elect to use either combined or separate axes under the "advanced"
tab. This of course only applies to windows games.

Hope this helps

Ain't it great to be able to do this in software now :)
