Assuming you have more than 32Mb of RAM, yes. You don't need any extra
files (at least not in GPL 1.2 - I don't know about earlier versions).
What you do is this:
Find the file "core.ini", which will be in your GPL installation
directory (probably c:\sierra\gpl). Open it with Notepad, and add these
lines to it:
[ Replay ]
replayMemoryOverride = 32000 ; size of replay buffer in Kbytes
You can play about with the value to see what works best. GPL doesn't
much care about memory beyond 32Mb, so I use 32000 on my 64 meg PC. It
doesn't appear to slow the gameplay down at all.
On my machine, I can easily record a 10-car Novice meeting (both
practice and the race) at Watkins Glen or a full Int. Long race at
Silverstone.
The replay files will be over 20 Mb, so make sure you have plenty of
disk space. When this came up before, someone recommended burning your
best replays onto a CDR, which is an interesting idea.
