Looked like they only spin when they come unglued - yeah, I saw it.

GPL notwithstanding, my reflexes are not what they were 40 years ago.
Every time I try the "Feel, don't think" process, before long
it's "Game over, man, game over!!".  I haven't won a GPL race yet, but
it is still a tremendous challenge and lot of fun.  Tried Powerslide
once, but it just did not "click" with me.  To each his own, I guess!!

LOL ;-)

Well, I think it's why I like it so much.  I think in GPL, I feel in E1 -
Racer.  Both are probably the opposite of each other, but it doesn't mean
Episode 1 - Racer is bad. No not at all ! It's extremely complex and IMHO
takes itself very seriously for a arcade-type racer.  No weapons, no
power-ups, none of that stuff.  LucasArts indeed created a serious world for
this.  When your going at 600mph+ down tight courses, you have this great
sense of being on the edge.  Really "on the edge".  It's a great feeling,
probably one of the best thing a game can make you feel (GPL at the opposite
does it also).

The sound is probably the best I have ever heard in any game, any type.
Great music by John Williams, with unused part directly in the movie and not
found on the Star Wars original motion picture soundtrack.  Different sound
for each Pod (22 in total), with great 3d-spatial effects, and voice..
plenty of voice, 200megs of voice ! ;-D

The physics are great.  Im amazed at the game engine and how they created
the whole complex "Pod" as a entity itself, with the whole modeling of both
engines (One pod has a single engine, others have 4, etc..) the pod behind
it (one of them is up-front), and the metal poles.  Both the movie producers
and the game programmers worked aside to help each other's here btw.

Yves, if Microsoft puts out a demo or if a buddy buys it I guess you
have talked me into trying it.  Overall, sounds like a lot of fun - if
my skills are not up to some of it, big deal.  In GPL I think we are
destined to spend a lot of time mowing the grass, and maybe in E1R the
bits and pieces that fly off when the pod impacts the
wall/cliff/tree/whatever will look more like real pieces of something
than what we see flying about in GPL or TOCA2.  Of course, Lucas does
not have the vehicle damage licensing woes that abound in NFS3 and
SCGT.  The manufacturers <grin> don't care how badly bent things might
get !!
