GPL is definetly NOT too hard to learn. Proof: I learned to drive it
:) Anyone with a proper wheel and a good system WILL be able to enjoy
GPL given he/she dedicates enough time learning the handling and is
more or less interested in old Formula One cars.

'Nuff said.

I reckon the problem is one of perception: since you don't have the
depth cues (no stereo 3D) and can't feel the acceleration of the car,
you may not realise just how fast you're asking the car to
accelerate/turn, and that's why it seems wrong when it skids out from
under you.

All I can say is that the more I play, the more realistic GPL feels,
especially at a track like the Nurburgring where you're basically
whizzing down country lanes, correcting for all the little bumps on the
way.

You will have to back right off the throttle to start with, but I think
that's one of the main attractions of the game - there's more throttle
available when you can handle it, so you don't just have the pedal to
the metal the whole time.

What corner specifically? If your driving poorly enough or the setup
is bad enough, spinning at 40mph is no worries!

I can really see the similarity between a taxi driver in a 3000lb +
car in mega traffic conditions and a 67 F1 car piloted by a race driver
....kerrrrrrrrrr PLONK!

Sorry mate....you're about 12 months too late with this
observation.....we've had it all back in 1998.

Doesn't matter how inaccurate it is....it is still **MORE* accurate than any
other sim to date.

Mate, my 1949 MGTC, on 19"diameter x 4" section cross-ply tyres, will do a
4-wheel drift through a round-about at **30** mph.

So PLEASE..........don't get overly e***d with your protestations.  These
things *DO* occur.

Frankly, the pod race looked like NFS3 airborne.  Bet they didn't spin
out at 40 mph !   How long until Lucas Arts hits the street with Star
Wars Pod Racing?  Will any of us that have been spoiled by GPL
experience want to buy it?  Stay tuned.......

Spin out at 40mph ? Uh did you actually see the movie ;) ? They go around
5-600mph.  How can they spin also ? What the heck are you talking about ?
;-)

There is already a game released btw Terry.  Star Wars : Episode 1 Racer.
It's an excellent arcade game. Excellent.  FYI some tracks are modeled from
real-life ones ;)   I laughed at the Laguna Seca track map in the
Interstellar series.  N64 and PC by LucasArts.

If you want GPL'esque, don't buy it.  But it has a great game engine.
Incredible speed.  With patience you will learn to, and as Qui-Gon would
say.. "Feel, don't think".  It goes so fast that it's the only way to be
good.  One if not the best arcade racer on the market, with Powerslide and
DeathKarz (that last one is so under-rated IMHO).

For Cinematography, yes.  For action, yes.  For pure fun, yes.  But Le Mans
is long.  I mean it takes alot of movie time (the actual race), compared to
the 12minutes of the Race sequence in the movie.  The use of the virtual
camera is incredible in TPM.
