Ok Ok I was one of GP3's biggest critics when the Warez version was
released. But being a dogmatic type (or just plain stuborn?) I have
persisted with it to the state where it looks and plays exceptionally
well.
My System is

Abit BF 6 Board
Seagate 5400rpm UDMA H/D
128 MB No Name PC 100 Ram
Generic 32 MB TNT2 (5.22 reference Drivers)
Creative PCI 128 S/Card

My Videocard settings for Direct 3D in the Control Panel are:
Generate 4 Mipmap levels
Auto Mipmap Method = 8 Tap Anisotropic (this is key)
Mip map detail level = Best image quality
Vertical Sync = Disabled

Card.txt settigs are

bilinear=1
reflections=1
alphawithck=1
liverynumbers=1
detailmap=0
altcolorkey=1
alticons=0

With these settings I run all detail on at 1024x768 and PO only gets
above %100 at the start of the race.

OK so how does your persistence and settings change the
lack of AI car sounds, floating cars in the pits and lack of
split axis support?

You make it sound like you have persisted and worked
though all of these problems. I claim you have not.

Come on Greg. I can understand slagging it for poor wheel support and
lack of AI car sounds, but the floating cars in the pits is a design
choice.

Frankly I believe they were all design choices :-)

I am still waiting for the answer...

Try it or not I don't care. The Posting wasn't really for silly
negative ppl like you. How much time have you actually spent tyin GP3,
or did you just load it up , say to yourself its not GPL and drop your
bottom lip and start sulking like a petulant child?

Hi,

How do you disable v-sync in Direct3D with the 5.22 drivers?
No option in the D3D properties here...

i used to do the registry  NV4Tweak poweruser thing.....
but that doesn't seem to work anymore with the 5.xx drivers..
using 5.33 myself...

cheers
willem

In the Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA
Corporation\Global\NvTweak create a DWORD value and call it CoolBits
(give it ahex valueof 3. When you go into the TNT2/D3D properties Tab
now under More Diect 3D there will now be the option to disable the
V-Synch  It also adds a Tab to play with Chip and Memory Frequency
settings, but thats a different story :-))

Maybe he's just chosen to overlook those things?

I spent a hell of allot of time in GP2 and that is about the same
as GP3 so there. I haven't even tried GP3 because of the lack
of advancements and basic fixes to GP2.

And don't give me any shit about GPL. I sold it many moons ago.

:-)

WTF?  You haven't even _tried_ GP3 and yet you're one of the most vocal
critics???
Yeah ... um ... okay ...

Not really. Does that mean I can't tell you a Yugo is ***
unless I have driven one? Tell me I am wrong with my
points. It is amazing how many people pipe up with ;
"yeah but he is right".
