Just downloaded the file.  How do you open the file?  Do I need GPL to see the
replay?

Yup, you do. The only GPL "replays" you can watch without GPL are created by
a conversion tool that creates MPEG's (and other formats) from GPL replays,
but even they require GPL to create the movie.

What are these utilities?

Does anything like this exist for N4 ?

I have never used any of them, I just know they exist because there are
hundreds of GPL movies out there. And yes, they exist for N4 because there
are also hundreds of N4 movies. Check www.theuspits.com or
www.legendscentral.com among others.

I've always wondered how people were making those movies, but I've searched
and searched and never found a utility for it :(

http://www.racesim.net/pagpers/balzus/index.htm

Two of the best sites for everything GPL both list several utilities.

How to watch GPL online race replay?

Biz,

Thanks for the links :)

The first one isn't really what I want.  It's a screen capture utility, of
which I have several.  I was actually inquiring about something that could
read the replay's directly, and convert them into mpeg or avi files.

The second link is a goner.  Not sure what it is :)

The others have been added to my collection.

The first link may work out, and I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

-Larry

The second link was working fine last night as I just d/l'd the new version of gpl2avi from it.
Probably just down for some routine maintainence, try again later.  The first one that makes screen
grabs makes excellent quality movies from the screen grabs although its a little archaic in its
nethodology.  Many still use this or did up until recently when newr better versions of gpl2avi were
released.
