Old (no doubt) F1 2000 question

by Patty & Skip Hoo » Tue, 25 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Hi folks -

Pardon what must be an old hashed-over question for you regulars.  Much
as I love GPL, I couldn't resist a chance to try out the Indy F1 course
before I go up to watch the race this fall.  So I just brought home a copy
of EA's F1 2000.  Then read some on-line reviews before I broke the seal on
the box.  Hmm.  Seems my system may marginal for this sim.  I'd appreciate
some first-hand reports from anyone who's run it on a similar system:

    PIII 550 (pre-coppermine)
    32 MB TNT2 (pre-ultra)
    128 MB RAM
    MS Sidewinder FF wheel
Also a good ol' 12 MB Voodoo 2 for running GPL, though probably not
relevant to F1 2000.

Thanks,

Skip

My 450 PIII with no Voodoo runs the game pretty good after a little
tweaking.  You should have no big problems...

I`ve got a PIII 550, V3 2000, 64 MB Ram, I f I am hotlapping I can have
everything set to max and run smooth as silk, but in race conditions with 22
cars on grid it`s ***y awful, if you get the patch for it you will be able
to change the number of cars in a race.
If I set it to 10 cars it runs pretty good with a bit of detail turned down.
It`s a good drive for sure, but i have had it on and off my hardrive for
ages now cause IMHO the bad outweighs the good in this game. But opinions
vary, hope this helps a little. Now GP3 is available I don`t think I will
play it again.

Snake.
