K6-2 333 in GPL ?

Anyone playing GPL on K6-2 with voodoo 1 or 2 ? I am interested in
performances. How is FPS in traffic,on start and other demanding
situations.....

K6-2 333 in GPL ?

I think you will have no troble with this CPU, but if you haven't bought it yet,
you should go with a Celeron 300A and overclock it to 450 MHz, then it beats
even the P2 450 :o), and I know of noone who have failed making it run at 450.
It even seems to run at 83 * 4.5, ca 370 MHz without the fan working.

I know this isn't the right place, but how does a Celeron 300A (with 128K
cache) overclocked to 450 MHz beat a full P2 (512K cache) 450 MHZ (not
overclocked)??

I have voodoo2/12MB + K6-2 300

I only have the demo so far and run it 1000xwhatever (can't remember the
exact res).

It is incredibly fast (>30fps). I don't know how to measure the
framerate in the demo tho but I do know the framerate is > 30fps.

I AM running directX6 though (which makes a difference for K6-2).

I can't recommend the K6-2 enough. I didn't even have to get an ATX
case!!

CEleron 300a 128 cache at full speed, PII 512 cache at half or 300 or
something ( not sure ).

Dx6 makes no difference for K6-2 in GPL. K6-2 is the same as K6 in GPL at
the moment. That might change when 3dfx makes drivers for voodoo cards that
support 3dnow.

The Celeron A's smaller cache is running at the full clock speed of
the processor, whereas the P2's cache is running at half speed. I'm
not a programmer, but I would guess that the relative performance
depends on the way programs use the L2 cache: apps that need
relatively small portions of their code cached will run faster on the
o/c Celeron; programs that need more than 128K consistently will be
faster on the P2.
