GPL - patch suggestion

When playing multiplayer GPL, Is it possible for it to recognise a
player just by their name, and not by their number or anything else?
The reason I ask - I think it would enhance the sim if you could see a
photo of the winner at the end newspaper, and not just the same old
"unknown driver".  I know how to edit the driver's picture files.  If
it's already possible to do this, tell me how?
I don't have any programming skills, I don't know if this could
realistically be achieved.  I suggest the patch could include a
"photo.ini" file and a "photos" directory, the photo.ini could look
somethiing like this...

NAME            FILENAME
Joe Bloggs:    jblo
Fred Smith:    fsmi

The data isn't too hard for the average person to input.
Whenever someone with that name appears in a multiplayer game, a patched
GPL could use their photo file.
