GP3 - no Force Feedback ?

by Sven » Fri, 18 May 2001 11:50:55

Hi.
I just got this GP 3 game, but I can't get any ForceFeedback out of it. I
have installed the official patch, so now my buttons work, but not FF. Why
the h... did they not use Windows' information? I can't think of any other
modern game, where you have to calibrate your controller in the game itself.
Can it work? How do I set it up then?

I have a MS ForceFeedback Wheel (the USB model)

I have the same wheel and get FFB in GP3. There is an option to trun
it on and off under advanced controllers.

I have turned it on there, and actually I get a tiny little FF, as the car
is pulling a little to the left, but that's it. No FF when driving on the
curbes, no centering of the wheel when accelerating like in GPL, no shaking
in the wheel when outside the track.

Even EA's Championship 2000 has a better FF.

It is checked.

I think I'm going back to Colin Mcrae 2, there the FF works fine.

FF in GP3 kicks ass. I had to run decyrpt.exe after installing the patch to
get the ff to work though.

What is decyrpt.exe, and where do I find it?
How do you set it up? I have 3 options,
Enable FF (I can guess that :o) )
Wheel pull left ( what is this, it does not seem to do anything to my MS
wheel)
Scaling (nothing changes nomatter how I set the slider)

almost all of the way down find the "ff fix tool for ms & saitek wheels"
hope that gets it.

Yes, I had the same problem.  The file I downloaded and ran was some tiny
little thing called wheelfix.zip weighing in at about 40 kB.  Fixed the
force feedback with my MSFF in GP3.

Thanks.
I have now downloaded this file (wheelfix.zip), unpacked it, and tried to
run it, but nothing happens! In the readme.txt I saw something about a key
this program would make a backup of in the same dir as the program itself,
but nothing happens. I can see a black DOS-windows for a split-second, and
that's it.
Is it because I'm running windows2000?
Or is it because I have the new USB MS FF Wheel?

I ran it on Win98 and got the same thing. Maybe it doesn't make a
backup if the raw codes are already there?

i tried the exe, didn't work, i removed the reg keys manually.. still no
change... the only FF i get is some resistance, but no actual feedback (in
win2k)... in win98 i had no probs with the FF... (i'm using the MSFF stick)

Ok, Win2K and MSFF stuff are not a great combo. I've heard that people
don't load the SW softeware on Win2K because it causes a slow down in
the games with the FFB on.
