I've heard lots of good and bad about this.  Sometimes
it's like people are talking about different sims.

Lots of problems seem to do with the G-Force drivers.

What's the word on running F1 2001 with Voodoos?

                                                    Thanks

Running fine here on V5500. I have it at 970/xxx resolution with 16 bit
colors and 2x AA. Almost all graphic settings at medium. Working great
except for the ai cars disappearing 100 meters ahead.  Little slowdown
starting from the end of the pack, but thats it. Haven't tried every track
though.

Just make sure to select a 16 bit color depth.

What framerate do you get, and do you use FSAA ?

Got exactly the same system, except the 384 Megs of ram. I don't know
if more memory helps or not, but I'm really curious on your results.

Works great once you get the right drivers. You can stop the cars
disappearing if you change one of the settings in one of config files,
can't remember which one, I'm at work at the moment, but it's mentioned
a couple of times here recently.

I have P3 1080 mhz  and 384 mb. As i said, i run it at that 960/xxx
resolution, because i dont like slowdowns at all :-) Its completely smooth
except start from the end of the field. I dont know how to check fps at
that game, but i think its over 40 fps.

In \F12001\Save\default.cfg change LODMultiplier=(1.000000) to
3.000000 or 4.000000. It's under the LocalCam=COCKPIT heading.

I've tried every Win98 driver for my Voodoo4, and I get the same problem:
mouse pointer flickers in the menu, and disappears when I stop moving it,
making it really difficult to make changes to the options on the screen. EA
is apparently aware of this, but has no plans to fix it. Otherwise,
everything else seems to run fine, so far.

There's a free utility called FRAPS that will run in the background and
display fps in the corner of the screen.  Get it at www.fraps.com.  If you
do, please post frame rates.  I cannot run a race with my V5, PIII 672 and
256 MB ram without a slide show.  Hot lapping is great, 25-40 fps with all
graphics on high, 800x600 res, 16-bit textures.  Time for a 1+Gb processor,
damn!

What drivers do you have for that card?
Im using 3rd party modified ones. http://www.falconfly.de/3dfx.htm I think
they were Omega drivers 1.03 or something like that...

I'm using 4.13.01.0028 (10/13/2000).  The file package is
vs-w9x-1.04.01-beta.  How are the omega drivers?  I have them but hesitate
to install them since I don't want to introduce problems.

No problems on any game that i have tried so far :-) Except in Gpl - Brands
hatch, the grass texture is looking weird 100 meters back and forth???
Dont know if that has anything do with the driver version though....

These drivers are not really "new". They are just a compilation of files
from different sets. No actual coding has been done by 3:rd party. Hope you
get the game working.
