Burnout or NHRA?

by Don Dod » Tue, 01 Sep 1998 04:00:00

To Whom,

Which is the best drag racing sim?  I've heard that there are some
kind of serious control problems with NHRA.  Is this true?

I've got an antiquated 166 with a Monster 1 and a T2.

Burnout or NHRA?

I was very disappointed in the 3dfx graphics of the NHRA sim, until Don
Wilshe suggested updating the drivers from www.3dfx.com They have an updated
set of "reference drivers" that I downloaded which is described as Glide
3.46 Glide 3.0, Direct 3d and DirectX. The "post" date was 8/3/98.  Can
someone describe what these reference drivers are? My monster3d specific
drivers are dated 3/29/98.

Now.... the graphics are great.... even on my P166. The sound is great also.
The load times on NHRA are horrible especially for a 4 second run and I have
had a few lockups after a run.

Burnout is good for those racers that like setting up their cars and the
gameplay is fast and smooth. However,  IMO, I like NHRA and racing against
the big boys.
