We have just completed a speed test on a Pentium 350 and 400 running
Rendition 2200 and 3Dfx cards.
The software used in the test was GP Legends which has a handy frame
counter.
The software was set on Monza with all graphics on, detail bias set at
1/2 , in a race,19 cars and our car at the rear of the grid.
CPU RAM CARD FRAMES / SEC
300 64 3Dfx 24
300 64 Rendition 31
400 64 3Dfx 27
400 64 Rendition 35
400 124 3Dfx 27
400 124 3Dfx x 2 invalid reading in legends but looks like 30
SUMMARY - For Papyrus games;
3Dfx graphics cleaner at 640 x 480
Rendition graphics grainy at 640 x 480 (even at 600 x 800 better but
still not quite as good as 3Dfx)
Rendition has a momentry freeze problem when pit board comes out and on
the odd occasion at random during a race.
Rendition much much faster. Even faster than 2 x 3Dfx's.
CONCLUSION - For Papyrus games - Rendition 2200 by a country mile.
