Sims with most patch tracks?

by Marc Plant » Tue, 20 Oct 1998 04:00:00

I drive a car on many tracks around the US and was wondering what sim
might give me the best opportunity to find digital equivalents.  I know
there's a big GP2 track page out there, but I didn't know if any of the
newer sims have equivalent, higher res tracks available.

The tracks I'm interested in are:

- Mid Ohio
- Watkins Glen
- Road Atlanta
- Road America

Also touring car capabilities would be nice.  It'd be nice to drive
something with comperable capabilities to my real car (a la gran
tourismo, though I want to play on a PC).

TIA,

Well Indycar Racing2 has MidOhio,m and Road America, N2 has Watkins Glen...

Other than that you are about out of luck....until the Professional Sports
Car Racing sim comes out.....which I'd say would most match Gran Turismo.

Can't help you with the touring car end of it, but Microsoft's Cart  Precision
Racing has Road America and Mid Ohio included, supposedly modeled with a GPS
unit to within 10cm(!) of accuracy.  There are some add-on tracks as well, but
I'm not current on them, as I don't use CPR anymore.  Find out more at:

Yes, ICR2 comes with Mid-Ohio and Road America, Watkins Glen is available for
it, converted from Nascar2.  There's also a touring car patch out there.
Sorry, at the moment I forget which website it is on.  Maybe someone else can
help out with that, or if not, surf around a bit, you'll find the stuff you're
looking for, and more.

No Road Atlanta yet, though :o(   Maybe when  BB&B release their track editor,
someone will make it.
