We have some threads on Car physics, for me it's more important at
this moment to handle the parts around the physics; graphics, tracks,
cars and all that.
I have an SCGT track importer which works quite good at this point.
Some culling and part of the models (just the road and grass with some
inner pit stuff) brings me an oval track with some fog (300m vision)
running at 72fps on a TNT2Ultra/PII-400. Ofcourse that gets me anxious
to continue! (it's running only in the TrackEditor right now)
I want to be able to place some cameras, but I'm wondering on how to
approach this. Keeping in mind tracks as Suzuka, with a crossing, it
seems that my initial idea of finding the camera closest to the car
will get me into trouble (and I'll be using a tunnel camera which
looks at the ceiling when the car is above that).
Anybody have a good idea how to tackle this problem?
Furthermore, yes, I have an oval, as well as Monza, but those are
somewhat conversions, so unless I take a very educational approach
(which I might) I am hesitant to put them on the same site as the rest
of Racer.
Does anybody (know about) any real license/rights-free tracks
available? I mean SCGT tracks here actually, since that's what I've
been importing upto now (well, generic 3DS Max tracks can do as well,
as long as they're split into a number of groups).
