The Ferrari is a pretty good car, with a great engine indeed..
About the guidebook found with GPL, the problem was that when the book was
finished and shipped for the whole post-production process Scuderia Ferrari
wasn't licensed yet into GPL. That's why they had to take off any mention of
it inside the guidebook.
Steve Smith still has wrote a continuation of the guidebook and talks about
the Ferrari car on Alison's GPL website (she was a Papyrus beta tester) at
this URL :

Have a nice reading (and get those Coventry setups hehe) ;)

Oh yeah, the engine sound is -- awesome :)
The only draw back is it's top speed.
I find the Lotus not as 'tossable' for instance :)

But I've noticed a marked difference in the engine sound, volume,
quality/stereo, depth etc... when running the Ferrari in Training mode Vs.
during a race, have you?
BTW, I'm running a PII 266, SoundBlaster AWE32, 64RAM, 4meg PCI, Riva128
based video card with the Beta2 OpenGL patch.

On the other hand, the Ferrari engine rarely goes boom. And the predictable
handling means you aren't as likely to be flying of course - which is
usually the difference in online racing.

But why is it so hard to keep on track compared to Cooper or even
Lotus? Does it come from the shorter distance between front and rear
wheels?
Arto
Ok, so I'm guessing the Eagle is in-between the two. I can't handle the Lotus
EITHER... :)

Also don't assume *anything* based on the first lap.

Yes, I would say for me the Eagle is between the Lotus and
Ferrari (btw, these are the only 3 cars I have driven in GPL).
Unfortunately for me, I suck so bad at GPL I have to reduce
myself to one single car for now, in an effort to get completely
comfortable enough to complete a 9 lap race. Once I can do that
comfortably (not likely! LOL), I'll start experimenting more with
other cars.
The Eagle does have some inspiring traits, no doubt about it, I
just can't handle it over the entire length of a 9 lap race at
Spa. I'm just not a good enough pilot :(.

I find the Ferrari impossible to drive as with the Brabham. Frankly i think
the Eagle is the most stable in the game but thats just my style. The BRM and
Lotus are good for me too and the Honda is right there too. As for the
Ferrari, Brabham, and Coventry...I find them decidely "twitchy" at speeds over
130MPH.
