If you have GPL do yourself a favor right now and try out the Ferrari at the
German Nurburgring.

My god! screaming through those mountain roads sliding sideways in the
Scuderia's fine steed with that sweet sound of the Ferrari engine, especially
in that one part of the track, absolutely flying down the the long
straightaway lined with tree's on both sides, SCREAMING engine, car at
the limit of control, crest the hill and car goes airborne for the slightest
moment..you land as you try to keep it from going out of control!
Totaly amazing! this actually gave me goosebumps.

Thank You Papyrus.

All other parts of the sim aside, even if GPL had only the Ferrari and this
track alone, it would be worth the price of the package alone.
Excellent job on the Ferrari engine sound, on this track and on the game
itself. Can't wait to try online play.

Wow.  I JUST got done racing with the Ferrari at Nurburgring right before I
checked this newsgroup and saw your post.  Deja-vu.
I'm having so much fun hot-lapping, I seemed to forgot that I can only get
8fps with the AI cars.  =)

Unfortunately I know this feeling... when GP2 came out, they released
it in Europe 2 weeks before it came out here in the states, not to mention
F1RS which took forever to come out here in NA, along with TOCA, Rally
Championship, XCOM, etc..

Drives me nuts everytime to see people talking about a great game on USENET
when it isn't available yet in my area, I wish these companies could
coordinate worlwide releases. I think this is one reason that some of
these titles get spread by Warez sites. Who is going to wait 5 months
for F1RS to be released here when the neighbor got it from some Web site
that got a hold of a UK version and offers to let you have it until the
official US version is available.

Hope you guys get surprised by an "early" release.

Man, that ferrari engine just freaks me out. When I first heard it I
thought, 'that's a bit harsh' but then I realized it was probably
pretty accurate and then I got the goosebumps too. Imagine really
trying to control one of those monsters back then....oh my god...

Yessir. I like the Eagle. I like the Lotus. But damn...I LOVE this
Ferrari :) I was practicing at Monza. Sound is cranked up. The subwoofer is
booming. I'm zipping around with a big shiteating grin on my face.
Unbenownst to me, my roomate came home and was standing behind me watching
this sim for the first time. His jaw was wide open :)) I asked him,
"So...what do you think?" He didn't comment immediately on the
graphics....it was, "That's the most *ruthless* sounding engine I've ever
heard!" I had to agree. :))

Indeed!
Three years ago I had the once in a lifetime (for me) pleasure of driving a
friend of a friend's Ferrari Testarossa on a little-used stretch of
brand-new highway flat out, and although this modern engine was considerably
less "throaty" than the one in the sim, I felt a combination of eeriness and
e***ment when I fired up the Ferrari 312.  This is most definetly a
Ferrari.

I found the car rather "jittery," even compared with the Lotus, but managed
to get 1:10s at the Glen inside of 20 laps, right out of the box!  I don't
even know what the other cars sound like.

:) I didn't have the chance to hear the GPL Ferrari yet, but I once
happened to walk through the tunnel between old and new pits at the
Nurburgring when a 250SWB (in race trim) came through there, too.
Apparently, the driver was a bit in a hurry. Subsequent conversations
on that day included a lot of "WHAT DID YOU SAY? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!",
but it was worth it. :) If the sound in GPL can convey a bit of the
awe-inspiring "Jurassic Park" quality of those engines, it must be a
real treat.

In other words, the sound is just right; the exception you describe is
easily solved by heavy amplification.  :-)

I actually start laughing out loud, this is the best part no doubt. It's
hard to do anything but lap the ring in that Ferrari and let the engine
tach out!!! F*#&king wails!!
John - this game rocks!! - did I say that?

There are a lot of choice comments at the moment. I thoroughly enjoyed
hearing this tale! Thanks.
