GPL - wow!

Hi,
I picked up my copy of GPL today!  All I can say is... wow! Hats off
to Papy on an awesome sim!  So far I've only really had a chance to try
Monza, this is my first real experience using GPL, the demo didn't work
on my new machine with Win98, the final version runs great though!  I
started with the Ferrari (all of you were right it sounds great!), now
I'am running the Conventry just to get used to the feel of the sim.  My
fastest lap at monza so far is 2:00:78 (no laughing, please! :)).  I find
the Conventry much easier to drive.  I tried Monaco briefly, but that
ended quickly when I hit the hay bales!  I'am doing races in the Novice
Trainer (set driverRating to 1).  One question about this.  When I'am
racing, if I change the race type (i.e. Novice, Intermedita shrot/long,
GP, etc).  does this effect the speed of the AI if I keep my driver
rating at 1?  It would just be nice to run some longer races in the
novice trainer.  Sorry for my short review, I have to get back to racing!
(I still have 10 other tracks to get a good look at!, and I haven't even
tried the 'Ring yet, maybe in a couple months! :))

Later,
John

But if you are doing races with the trainer, you are hearing the same generic
sound for all the cars.  When you switch to GP cars, you'll hear the different
sounds (including the Ferrari scream).

BTW, my best is 1:55.59 with the Lotus trainer.  I can't figure out how to get
competitive with the top drivers.

I've been told it does.  But it has also been suggested to save three
different players, one with each class of car, then edit the individual
player's player.ini files to driver rating = 1, 2, or 3 depending on whether
it is trainer, mid, or GP car.

Also, supposedly as you get better, the AI gets faster (the "hype" rating).

Check Alison Hine's site:

for info on the game and how to adjust things such as this.
