CPR / UBI F1 Compare!!

Well I have played CPR till Im blue in the face trying to
like this title because I am such a big CART fan but with my P200/3dfx
system this demo just sucks. I thought I would never be saying that but
after playing the Ubi F1 demo I can only think that CPR just sucks. Put
it to you this way, if I'm getting 18 fps with the***pit fiew with no
other competitors on the track what the hell is going to happen when we
have 10 or more cars diving into a first turn!? Dog ass slow framerate I
bet......................

Who ever was with M$ in this newsgroup please answer that question. I
think its on everyones mind.
Just for thought folks. Remember playing the Ubi F1 demo? Compare the
demo with what Microsoft has been rambling on about. I think I'll be
heading towards F1 with a lot of other people.

ah, forgot to tell you the demo apparantly does NOT work with
a Cyrix (don't know about the MX). It did not work with mine (P166+L),
also someone on the site`s forum told me.
Real disappointment for me...

I got both demos and the difference is night and day.

CART is absolutely awful, by contrast the Ubisoft sim has me
chomping at the bit. I never wanted something so bad in my
life since GP2 came along. Ubi's F1RS looks like a masterpiece
to me !

I got both demos also and I was quite pleased by the graphics in F1 but the
driving model and sounds were wretched! There was no sense of speed and the
car did not feel like a F1 car. Was I missing out on some tuning or
controller setup that would make the game better?

Thanks
John

> you are driving on "two" wheels on the demo..

You had the F1 demo and are asking a question like this? Wow. The F1
demo is far superior. I just hope the resulting game is too. I think the F1
demo demonstrates far more details than the CPR demo. In one case I
hit a curb too hard, went airborne and broke my left rear. Then in another
instance I had a left rear go flat. You actually hear the flat tire (flop, flop
flop) then when you hit the brakes, your car veers massively to the left.
I call that attention to detail. And that does not even mention the car
I saw which was spewing white mist from it's rearend. It was going full
bore leaking engine fluid. And you ask in what way? Please...

No.....what we have here is called "subjectivity".  You see the game
through different eyes to that of the original poster.  Your
likes/dislikes are entirely different to his.

Fortunately, it is this type of thing that makes the world an un-boring
place in which to live.....we are all different!

Yes.  I could understand if someone prefer 100 million over 101 million,
but not $2.00 over $2000,000.00 :)  I guess probably because the $2.00
is US dollar but the $2000,000.00 is French $$$$.  That confuse him.

Wait a sec....F1 Ubi has the most realistic sense of speed Ive seen yet.It is
 LOTS better than CPR's.

Sounds wretched???I dont know what demo you were playing but the only sound
that was "wretched" was the downshift sound.

Oh boy.

What exactly does this sentence say? What difference does it make if someone
from UBIsoft posts to this NG?

Well it is FORMULA 1 after all.

Please remove your head from your rear :-)

True, and it also didn't run with an AMD K5 166. I asked the guys at
Ubisoft about it, and they told me to delete the demo and wait for the
real thing, it will support other than Intel processors. By the way,
it's just a few weeks until 21st november, the official release date...

Just keep in mind that the F1 demo was made several months ago and is
labeled as beta.  Reports are that the demo doesn't do the released
game justice.  That's my hope.

Dave.

I have tried both games and here is my opinion:
I love both F1 and CART sims and I have bought all of Papyrus's and Geoff
Cramonds games (World Circuit is the classic!)

F1 RS - The graphics are awesome on this game. I really like the shadows on
the track from trees when you are going down the back straight. I think the
graphics are a little better than CART PR but might change if they do a
glide port for CART PR :-)
The driving model for F1RS seemed really weak to me. The car felt like a
truck around the corners and chicanes. I think it is called the parrabolica
on the last corner onto the straight. The car seemed real slow through this
corner. Is this due to my setup? Can you change it in the demo?
I like the grass or dirt on the tires when you go off track but they seemed
to scrub off real quick and did not affect adhesion much.
The sound is wretched! Sounds like a 1980's arcade sound then a real F1 car.
AI cars seemed overly aggressive and blind to your presence.

CART PR
The graphics are real good and fairly accurate. I expect things to be allot
better if a glide port is done. We will have to wait and see about that
though.
The AI needs some work. The AI seems like it can't tell that you are next to
it. I have only had AI run into the back of me when going slow. When
maintaining the same pace the race with me except for side by side bug
mentioned above. In real life real racers run into the backs of cars when
the car they hit is going real slow.
The driving model is superb. This is the best driving model that I have
driving before. I hope they do a CART 2.0 because I'm sure the driving model
will be refined even further!
The multiplayer aspect rocks! I have had several 5 player races with little
or no lag at all. The gameplay was very smooth and very exciting!
Can you say game editor? Look for it soon. Cars, tracks, textures, objects,
edit them all. Not sure how much they will give us but hopefully most.
The sound is right on! I have never heard a sim get this close in sound yet.
I can't compare the garage setup to F1RS but CART PR's garage engineer is a
novel idea and works well.

I'm rooting for both sims. The more competition there is the more the game
companies will need to raise their bar of excellence. If only one company
dominates they don't have to innovate as much. I hope UBI soft improves
their game allot as well as I hope CART PR keeps evolving.

You CANNOT use the demo on a Cyrix or AMD K5 !
