Does anyone know of an available patch to fix the bunching/stopping of
cars on the start of a race? I'm tired of having the nose bashed in or
having to drop way behind on starts to keep from getting wrecked. Thanks.

You would need to patch people's brains to achieve this
(I assume you are talking about GPL online - apologies if I'm wrong

From many GPL sites you can download new start grids, which create much
more space between the cars on the grid. This prevents incidents and
bunching up to a large extent. For online races, only the host needs to
install the new grid.
