Scott,
Depending on which type of racing you are a fan of, would explain
how one percieves each type of racing. The Nascar fan, gets his online fun
by racing side by side, and nose to tail. Thats what the white knuckle,
pulse pumping experience of Nascar is all about. The GPL fan will enjoy his
experience, as you put it, with the Grand Prix authenticity. I can see where
racing Nascar by the GPL standards would make for some rather ho-hum racing,
but, what if you had 5,6,7 or more GPL drivers, all running together nose to
tail for 50 laps?? Would get rather hair raising, Id say. <G>
Every sim has its good and its bad points. Although on-line N4
has its ups and downs, it will get better, and it will be an enjoyable
experience.
AS for the server situation, OLR's free service, provides the
oppurtunity for people to randomly create races as TEN once did. N4 is now
available on their service.
Realistic damage does not allow you to pit for 90 seconds and then
go out running with no problems. If you crash, you most likely will be
running crippled, when you go out. Moderate damage is where you get fixed
and run fine.
I must say this, though, they have made N4 a real handful like GPL
is. <G>
