VROC Down or What?

VROC is showing no races - I know that can't
be right.  I installed the new GPL spyboy
program tonight, so maybe that caused some
problem?

The only problem that caused was excessive use of VROC.
It got slightly overloaded...
Cheers,

VROC Down or What?

Here's an important note from the creator of GPL Spy Boy...
(copied from http://gpl.gamestats.com/gsb/news.html)

Wow it appears that the popularity of GSB caused a bit of a circuit
overlord at VROC headquarters! This popularity is in danger of causing
the VROC server to be shut down anytime the use level gets too high. A
combination of things have caused this, and the VROC folks and I will
be working to alleviate this problem as quickly as possible.

It is very important that you do the following so that we may all
continue to use GSB:

* Open the Options dialog (Spy->Options... menu item)
* Click on the "Misc" tab.
* Clear the check mark next to "Auto refresh VROC" (i.e. turn off auto
        refresh).
* Click OK to save the changes.

What this will do is make GSB work more like the Netscape version of
VROC, requiring you to manually click the Refresh button to update the
race information pane.

I apologize for this, and hopefully we will work out a solution in the
very near future that will reenable the auto refresh feature.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS OR THE VROC SERVER
WILL BE SHUT DOWN UNDER HEAVY LOAD PERIODS.

YOUR COOPERATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

THANKS!

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

VROC Down or What?

That is exactly what happened. The VROC team is in the process of re-working
the system
to handle the additional load. We apologize for the lack of availability of
VROC last night
and we are working hard to resolve this problem as soon as possible. We
appreciate your
patience and understanding!

Thanks
John

Well, in a round about way, yes.  The use of Spy Boy did short circuit
VROC (thanks Alison for finding the problem and fixing VROC!).

The following is the latest word from GPL Spy Boy's creator regarding
this issue:
