He dropped out of the top 5 I believe. This was due to some unique
fuel strategy by Target. I think basicly Jimmy took one for the team
and CART to help Montoya win.

What are you talking about?
Yeah, using underpowered cars. BTW, the IRL is in reality the NASCAR
openwheel league.

**Used to be** the greatest. Tony George with his monumental ego has
destroyed it. And I say that as someone who has lived his whole life
within fifty miles of the track. I can quote all sorts of statistics
of the race from memory but since '95, it's become a joke -- a BAD
joke.
I only hope that the two sides of this ignorant dispute can settle
their issues and re-unite open wheel racing before both series die.
Last I heard it was a CART driver 1-2... did Vasser drop back?
BTW: what did Gordon do re: his Coca Cola 600 commitment?

Note quite. It's not the tracks that makes the race, it's the drivers who make
the race. The race is only as good as the drivers are. The Indy 500 is nothing
without the drivers. Imagine holding the Monaco GP with only F3000 cars and
drivers. For some reason that even has now lost the flaire it once had. That is
exactly what happened at Indy.
Too bad CART's fans can't exhibit as much class as CART's teams, owners, and
drivers do.

Coming from someone in Australia who is not used to watching oval racing
(I do watch the odd NASCAR event we get scheduled on Fox here, and I do
frig with NASCAR 3 and NL), it was an excellent spectacle. What's with
the swig of milk?
I watched the last 100 or so laps, it was on early morning Monday so I
was watching while I was getting ready for work, and can say without a
doubt, anyone who thinks racing around in cirles is boring should sit
down and watch a race or two. There is alot more below the surface of
just racing round in circles.
But out of curiosity, how is the track distance measured, i.e, is the
circumference measured from say the centre of the track or the inner edge
of the track (the white line)?
Cheers,
Rod.

It may have been *ONE* of the world's great races, but hasn't been such
since Mr. George spat the dummy, grabbed his bat and ball and told the other
kids to***off out've his backyard!
Once was I could name all 33 drivers in an Indy 500.....I haven't had the
slightest interest in doing so ever since somebody called 'Billy Boat' raced
in it! LOL!
