I've come across a similar problem in multiplay but I'm using a
Logitech joystick at the moment. On rare occasions I'll loose the
brakes. It happened last night at a Bathurst race. Instead of slowing
and taking the first left turn I went straight ahead and into a wall.
The funny thing is that I was not the only one that this happened to.
Do you always lose the pedals or only sometimes?
Obviously the problem I've been having is some kind of bug.
I should have a Logitech Momo in a few days so I'll see how it goes.

I was loosing the FF with my Logi. Try turning down the graphics & give that
a go.
It seems to work hard & first thing lost is FF.
Since I did that  no more problems
