Gave me a 5% boost with my Diamond Stealth 2M DRAM card. UniVBE/SDD
gave me 10%, but unfortunately, both together don't give 15%.
Give them both a go - S3SPDUP is free, UniVBE is 21-day shareware, and
decide which to buy.

Yes it works. I almost thought it would allow me to run in SVGA because it
REALLY boosted performance in practice. When I ran a race the processor
(dx4/100) got too bogged down. I still use it to boost VGA performance. I
recommend it highly! I can run in VGA with all details on except for sky.
The processor occupancy is about 105-110% with other cars and 90-100% by
myself (during a race). It slows considerably when a car in from of you
is smoking with an engine failure, during a replay in director mode etc.
I just got the game last night, so I will write up a full review after a
few days of hacking around.

I run GP2 by clean-booting (I run Windows 95) and running S3SPDUP thus:
S3SPDUP vesa+ vga+
On my P90 (oc'ed last night to 100 without a hitch), 16MB Ram,
Diamond Stealth Video 3200 (VRAM) I get the following
results from the gp2log.txt file (+ is with S3SPDUP running).
Video CPU % video % cpu
P90 166 174
P90+ 254 174 53% 0
P100+ 267 193 61% 10.91954023
Processor occupancy at Silverstone start (watching me from outside)
was maxing at 360% (oncet he cars are moving) before S3SPDUP and
this dropped to 300% after - about 20% improvement.
Anyone else got any figures ?
Rob
Where do you get S3spdup

Try "s3spdup vga /load". The message should say vga is on. I did some
experimenting last nite and found that the 'vesa' option doesn't affect
the speed, at least according to gp2log.txt, but the 'vga' option raises
the speed quite a bit, although I assume it doesn't do anything for SVGA
mode.

try to load s3 Speed Up with Vesa AND Vga, even when you play in SVGA mode
in GP2. When I loaded it with the VESA option only, I didn't get much of
an improvement either but with both set, it was quite a boost (I could
increase the framerate by a cool 2). Also Make sure to get the latest
version at http://wwwmath.uni-muenster.de/~mesched/ .
For results, look at a previous posting called graphics performance booster.
I was told that UniVBE won't have an influence on GP2 because it wasn't
supported. So why don't you check it out (I'll do it too)! To do this,
run GP2 LOG:ON with and without UniVBE and check the gp2log.txt file for
video index. Post your results so we all know whether it helps or not.
BTW, to see the ultimate gain for your video card (not necessarily the
gain for a game), there is nice utility on Dietmar's homepage.
Hope this helps.
