N3, Viper770, DirectX 7.0, wall textures

I installed N3 on a clean version of win98SE, with the latest diamond
drivers. I run N3 at 1024x768. All was well... Lately, I installed directX
7.0 and now all the wall textures are all screwed up. Random graphics are
displayed on the concrete walls. I have reinstalled N3 and even tried the
latest NVidia drivers. No luck. So for now I just turned the wall textures
off.

Has anyone else experienced this with the above setup?

Currently I'm running the CPU at the stock 550 speed. I got the graphics
defects in N3 soon after the directX 7 install. I was running the Viper at
the stock 150/183 speeds. Lately I have been overclocking the Viper to
175/200 with a util called tntclk. No stability problems to report. The wall
textures are still munged though.
