Does GPL have 'random' mechanical failures?

I just at Spa in the Ferrari F1, driving just like I had
during hours of practice, or so I thought.

Almost at the end of lap 2 my engine blew. I didn't think
I was revving it too hard. In fact, I'm quite conscious
of it.

At the end of the race, my reason for DNF was Piston.
Does this mean that I was the sole cause of the engine
letting go or is it at all 'random', like in GP2?

Normally I wouldn't care, but this time there was a huge
crash at Eau Rouge on the first lap which took out 9
of 15 starters, leaving me running 2nd :)))

I was on course for my first F1 podium so I'm a bit
pissed off:)

Oh well, at least I was classified 6th - better than my
qualifying position of 8th.

Yes. A bit like real life really...
