Q: Force Feedback Wheel on serial-port

by Peter Rak » Tue, 05 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Hi guys,

I have a Trust Force Feedback Wheel "Force Feedback Race Master", or so
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/). It is connected to the serial port, it seems to
work only with directx games which get the wheel info from the
windows-system-properties in the controller section.
Can I use such a wheel for GP2? GP2 forces me to calibrate my
controller, i can't play with a controller except the keyboard if I
haven't calibrated it. Is there a trick to use the wheel for DOS-based,
non-directx-based games?

Thanks in advance
Peter

As I understand it NONE of the FF wheels can be used in Dos based games - so
that would include GP2, ICR2, Nascar 2 etc etc...

Hence the reason I just bought a non FF wheel setup...all I want to play is
GPL & GP2 & ICR2 so its ideal for me....maybe in a year when there are more
FF titles out (say 18 months for GP3!!!) and FF has matured as a technology
& I might think about upgrading

From the sounds of it CM Rally & Viper are the only FF games worth
having...MGPRS is far tooo "arcade" for me- Viper is a bit as well but looks
better......dunno what MS cart is like but the demo didn't thrill me too
much......

I.

Some DOS programs can run if run in a DOS-box inside Win95.  It will
depend on the game and the wheel's drivers.
