Is it better to use the USB port or a serial port for a FF steering controller and why  ?

Technically USB is better I believe, but I tried both and really don't
notice any difference at all. But I'm glad the lwff has usb, since
I've also got the ch pro pedals, which I plugged into my serial port,
while the lwff is in the usb port.

Definitely the USB port. I tried both extensively and the steering
'resolution' was very poor on the serial port - the car was very hard to
place accurately on the track. The USB port on the other hand was better
even than the game port I had used before FF! Especially on-line the
steering response doesn't seem to suffer from frame stuttering anymore
(in GPL). It was definitely worth the upgrade to W98 - at least on my
system, with an 'ageing' LX 66 MHz FSB main board.

Thanks for the info, I finally have a use for USB now. I hope I can get my home made pedals to work with the controller.
