GP2 & PC UPGRADE

Hello to all GP2 fan.I'm currently investigating on upgrading my PC.
Very soon i will do the final move, and with this i hope to see good
frame rate and lots of details in SVGA mode.

After some research, here's what i'm planning to buy:

Motherboard: ASUS P/I-P55TVP4 with intel 430VX chipset
Question:which of 430VX or 430HX chipset faster in DOS mode ??

CPU:CYRIX 6x86 P166+

RAM: 16MB 50ns EDO RAM
Question:Is 32 MB going to make difference in GP2 ?

VIDEO CARD: HERCULES DYNAMITE 128/VIDEO with 4MB RAM
Question:which of MATROX MILLENIUM or HERCULES DYNAMITE better overall ?

HARD DISK: QUANTUM FIREBALL 1.2 GBytes 10 ms

So that was my choice, the reason is mainly due to $$$/quality ratio and
availability of the product mentioned above.

Last question, anybody who has the same CPU, i would appreciate what
kind of graphic details are expected with at least 19.6 - 21 frame/sec
in SVGA mode (a must) and a processor occupency lower than 100%.
( i don't care about SKY,SMOKE OFF )

Thanks to any serious reply to this post VIA this newsgroup, take care
and have fun racing,Eric

It's my understanding that the HX is a higher performance chipset.  The
VX supports SDRAM which is too expensive to justify buying now anyway.

I have a p150+ oc'd to 166+.

Probably not, everything seems to fit well in my 16 megs.

I run in low or medium detail with track texture, wall texture, and
smoke in the rear view mirrors.  CPU occupancy stays ~45% with the
only slowdowns in the first turn at the start (if I'm behind traffic).
Frame rates don't drop below about 21 fps.

I recently tried out a cyrix 166 with 64 megs and an 8mb matrox millenium

i was able to play gp2 (without sky) in svga at 18 fps with an overall
occupancy of 80 %

Yes  But what detail did you have on and was it VGA or SVGA.  Come on
tell the whole story.
